Mr. Steven Houston Allen, age 55, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 16, 2014, after a short battle with cancer at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Allen was a United States Army veteran. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his mother Iva Allen, and grandparents Carl ‘Budge’ and Zella Acton and Pearl and Lola Allen. He is survived by his father Finley (Janice) Allen, sisters Debbie (Keith) Gregg and Donna Allen, nieces Jennifer (Scott) Rhinehart, Adrienne Fine, and Chasidy Allen, nephews Daniel (Heather) Ellison, Steven Allen, and Brandon Duncan, all of Newport. Additional survivors include six great-nieces and great-nephews, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a special aunt, Jewel Ellison, special friends Willie Davidson, Jr. and Nannie Kathleen Swaggerty, and special pets Cubie and Cheyenne. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at the Bryant-Hannon Cemetery with Elder Maurice Shults officiating. Military Honors will be provided by The East Tennessee Honor Guard. Daniel Ellison, Tommy Britt, Benny Huff, Gary Haggerman, Tracey Haggerman, Steven Allen, and Little Bobby Dunn will serve as pallbearers. Joey Allen and Billy (Goob) Allen will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Monday at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
