Mrs. Lillie Mae Allred, 82, beloved wife and mother, passed away at home on Sunday morning, February 24, 2008 after battling cancer for nearly 12 years. Lillie Allred, who was born and raised in East Tennessee, is survived by her husband of 62 years, C.W. (Woody) Allred; her three daughters Sonja Miller, Pam Allred, and Myra Allred; her sister Agnes Denton and brother-in-law Lloyd Denton; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members, friends, and colleagues who will miss her beyond measure.
Lillie lived a full and wonderful life full of accomplishments, contributions, hard work, and love. She was one of the original workers on the Manhattan Project at Oak Ridge, TN which helped bring about the end of World War II. Just last year she was honored by helping dedicate and open the Jack Case and New Hope Centers at Y-12 in Oak Ridge. She married the love-of-her-life, Woody, as soon as he returned from the South Pacific and became a Navy wife. She loved her husband and raised her daughters, then “retired” along with Woody back here to East Tennessee and embarked on a whole new career as director of Volunteer Services for Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Sevierville. Lillie was a member of First Baptist Church of Sevierville. Her greatest accomplishments were the lives she brought positive impact to in her service as a servant of Jesus Christ.
Funeral service 7 PM Wednesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Friends and family will meet at Beech Springs Cemetery at 1 PM Thursday for the interment service. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
