He was a member of Westend Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Creed and Eva McMahan; brothers, Illif McMahan, Sr., Everett (Jiggs) McMahan, and sister, Mary Margaret Seay. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Allen McMahan of Newport; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph M. and Bonita McMahan, Jr. of Newport; grandchildren, Erica Margaret Davis of Pearland, Texas, and Joseph Troy McMahan of White Pine, and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Westend Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Gorrell and Rev. Bob Bevington officiating. Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2002, at Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Westend Baptist Church, prior to the funeral.
