Richard Harlan "Dickie" Wilson, Ph.D., age 72, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005, after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his five daughters, Jennifer Wilson, Amy Wilson Murphy, Laura Wilson Trent, Lexi Wilson, and Erika Wilson, of Morristown, and brothers, Butch Ford and Toby Ford, of Newport, along with several cousins and special friends, Linda and Benny Byrd, June and Jeannie Blalock, of Sevierville.
He was preceded in death by his father, former State Representative Hobart Ford Sr.; mother, Katherine Wilson; and his special grandmother, Jennie Wilson; and Aunt Bess.
He also leaves behind three grandsons, Brandon, Matthew, and Weston, and friends, Allan Houpt and Billy Murphy.
After graduating from Boys Town College Nebraska, Dickie was awarded several athletic scholarships, including with Carson-Newman College where he graduated with a BS in Chemistry and Biology and then went on to receive his Doctor of Pharmacy in 1963 from the University of Tennessee Memphis.
He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Father Dan Whitman officiating. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday prior to the services.
Private burial services will be held on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Senior Citizens Home Assisted Living, of Sevierville, at 1220 West Main, Sevierville, TN 37862, or to Boys Town College at P.O. Box 2, Boys Town, Nebraska 68010.
