Thursday night I got a call from my neighbor and friend, Terry Baxter-you pass the Baxter beef farm everyday traveling on Cosby Hwy. south of town. Terry wanted to know about our lost and found ads, and I thought he may have lost one of his goats. But, it seems that a strange incident occurred last Thursday, a week ago, about 8 p.m. His brother, Freddy Baxter, was seated in his truck with a door open. Soon, he was startled when a small dog jumped into the cab with him. The Chihuahua seemed to be lost and was friendly-missing its home. So, I dropped by Friday afternoon to make a photo in hopes of finding the dog's owner. Arthur, Terry, and Freddy greeted me and brought out the little tan dog-a plump male who obviously had enjoyed couch living and Cheetos. He shivered in the 30-degree waning sunlight and held a paw up, either to keep it off the cold ground or as a habit learned and practiced for many years. They told me that after they put the dog with no collar out of the truck and went inside, the dog scratched on the house door. Arthur said, "The little dog is shivering" and to bring it in. They like the Chihuahua and have friends who would give it a home. I think the dog accidentally got separated from its people. Maybe you know something and could call me or the Baxters at 423-623-5015.
