Mr. Clifford Duyane Sane Sr., age 71, of Newport, passed away suddenly Thursday, April 12, 2012, at his home. He was born August 15, 1940. He retired in 2007 after serving 35 years with the Cocke County Sheriff’s Department. He also served as a reserve deputy for several years after his retirement.
He was a member of Gregg’s Chapel Church and a former member of the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents George Earl Sane and Ruby Mae West Sane, and brother Charles Wesley Sane.
He is survived by his wife Sharleen Berry Sane, of the home, daughter Ruby Catherine LaFollette and her husband Robert LaFollette of Florida, son Clifford Duyane Sane Jr. and his wife Laura Benfield Sane of Sevierville, daughter Christy Sane Williams and her husband Ralph Williams of Cosby, daughters Marcella Rebecca Cruz of Newport and Shelley Renee Cruz Osborne of White Pine, son Edward Clayton Cruz of Newport, ten grandchildren; Ronald Downs, Matthew Downs, and Amanda Downs, all of Florida, Ashley Nicole Cruz of Newport, Hamilton Benjamin Morris of Morristown, Caryn Michelle Osborne of White Pine, Makayla Danielle Williams of Cosby, Taylor Erin Sane and Zachery Fletcher Sane, both of Sevierville, Berry Grant Williams of Cosby, five great grandchildren, all of Florida,and sister Violet Willis of Newport. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews including special nephew David Wade of Newport.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Gregg’s Chapel Church with Rev. Franklin Wine, Rev. Fred Gregg, and Rev. Gary Gregg officiating. The casket will lie in state 1:30- 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday evening, April 14, 2012, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
