Elbert William (Bill) Ottinger, 57, of White Pine, passed away Wednesday evening at the Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was a member of First Baptist Church in White Pine. Bill had retired from the Jefferson County School System. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawson and Cressie Gregg Ottinger. Survivors include his wife, Lou Lane Ottinger, of White Pine; children, Kristie Ottinger and Julie and her husband, Jeff Holdway, all of White Pine; grandchildren, Josh Holdway and Dylan Ottinger, both of White Pine; sisters, Willie Kate and her husband, Roy Messer, and Flossie Vick, all of Newport, Pearl Caldwell, of Greeneville, Mary Ruth Cody, of White Pine, and Rosa Lee and her husband, John Okie, of Jacksonville, FL; brothers Tom and his wife, Molly Ottinger, Gene and his wife, Helen Ottinger, Carl and his wife, Marie Ottinger, and Robert Ottinger, all of Newport, and James and his wife, Faye Ottinger, of Strawberry Plains; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Paul Lamb officiating. Interment will be in the Resthaven Memorial Garden.
