Michael P. (Kramer) Cates, age 41, of Newport passed away suddenly at his home New Years Day. He was employed by Lisega, Inc. of Kodak, Tennessee He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Cates; sister Donna Cates Verdi; paternal grandparents, Elmer and Esther Cates; maternal grandparents, Hattie Grooms and Robert Grooms. He leaves behind his wife, Melissa (Missy) Cates; son and daughter-in-law, Dustin and Lacey Williamson; grandson, Parker Williamson, who was the light of his life; mother, Barbara (Jo) Cates; sisters and brothers-in-law, Reecie Cates and Mike Livesay, Rhonda and L.D. Ottinger; grandmother, Helen Grooms; grandfather, Charles Murr; mother-in-law, Brenda Carrell; brother-in-law, Travis Carroll; nieces, Denea Cates, Crystal Crum and Tayler Livesay; nephews, Tyler Livesay and Carson Carrell; great-nieces, Karcye Franklin and Aislyn Norton; great-nephews, Krys Cates and Tanner Green; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 pm Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ransom Hall and Rev. Frank Livesay officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 am Sunday, January 8, 2012 in Union Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pedro Gudger, Gary Ealy, Johnny Manning, Mike Livesay, Jason Ramsey, Don Jenkins, Daryl Jenkins and Seth Smith. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 Saturday prior to funeral service. Family and friends may sign guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
