Melissa “Reecie” Cates-Livesay, age 55, of Newport, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Jo Cates; sister, Donna Cates Verdi; brother, Michael “Kramer” Cates; and grandparents, Hattie Barnes, Robert and Helen Grooms, and Ester and Elmer Cates. She is survived by her daughters, Denea Cates of Knoxville and Taylor Livesay of Newport; son, Tyler Livesay of Newport; sisters, Rhonda (L.D.) Ottinger of Newport and Annita (Billy) Rowland of Newport; grandchildren, Krys Cates, Karcye Franklin and Kingstyn Dick; special friend Mike Livesay; and a host of nieces, nephews and family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, July 18, 2016 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Franklin Wine officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday prior to funeral service. Family and friends may sign the guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com.
