Benson announces candidacy for re-election

Charles (Bud) Dawes Henderson Sr., age 76, died Sunday, September 14, 2003.
He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army Air Corp. He served on Cocke County Court from 1966 until 1971 from Civil District 1.
He was also a member of Newport Masonic Lodge #234 for over 50 years, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and a Shriner of Kerbela Temple of Knoxville.
He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Owens Henderson; parents, N.B. and Carrie Henderson; also brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Charles Jr. and Ruby Henderson, of Goodlettsville, TN; daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Coot Benson, of Newport, and Sandra and Ricky Clowers, of Jonesborough, TN; brothers: Coolidge Henderson, of Newport; Clifford Henderson, of Cherryville, N.C.; and Curtis Henderson, of Woodland, Wash.; sister, Gladys Monk, of Gastonia, N.C.; grandchildren: Jessica Benson, of Newport; Tiffany Clowers, of Jonesborough; Malia Dallas and husband, Wayne, of Madison, TN; Robbie Midgett, of Goodlettsville, TN; great-grandchildren: Brandon Henderson and Cara Clinard, both of Goodlettsville, TN; special friend, Yvette Leveille, of Newport; also several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Freddrick Long officiating.
Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
