Cocke County Trustee Alfred Hogan will be a candidate in the May Republican primary for re-election. "I have resided and worked in Cocke County all of my life and have enjoyed the people and the communities of this beautiful area'" he said. Hogan and his wife, Phyllis, have four children: Anthony Hogan; Belinda and husband Mike Alley; Chris and wife, Wendy Hogan; and Denise and husband David W. Caughran along with grandchildren, Andy Hogan, Jonathan, Jarred and Mikayla Alley.
Alfred Hogan was elected eight years ago to serve as trustee for Cocke County. Prior to this term as trustee he served as a teacher and principal in the Cocke County School System for 37 years. "I was proud to be elected as your trustee and during the past eight years as trustee we were able to accomplish many things that have benefited the whole county. I would like to point out some of these accomplishments," he said. "We were able to increase the level of professionalism in the trustee's office by implementing written individual job performance plans, written office policies, and new internal accounting procedures. The hard working actions and dedication of our office staff along with these changes increased our office's productivity and accuracy. "We also installed and recently upgraded a computerized receipting system, which improved and updated system to bring it up to and exceed state standards making us more efficient to better serve the citizens of Cocke County," he said. Trustee Hogan added that "Through prudent and wise investment of the County's funds along with the cooperation of our local banks in Cocke County we were able to increase the debt service fund, which by doing so increases the county's credit rating and lowers the cost of borrowing money resulting in a savings to Cocke County. When I took office in 1998 the debt service fund had a balance of $780,000, and, as of this year, the fund had a balance of $5,000,000. This greatly benefits the financial status of Cocke County. In addition, monthly updates of our County finances and balances were provided to the members of the County Legislative Body (CLB) for the past eight years." Hogan aid he was "extremely proud of the accomplishments of the past eight years as your trustee and I would greatly appreciate your vote in the upcoming election. I will continue to have a open door policy as I try to meet needs of the citizens of Cocke County. Thank you once again for the honor to represent the people of Cocke County and for your continued support and trust. May God Bless you and your families."
