Clyde Johnson, age 77, of W. Main Street, Greeneville, formerly of Johnson Road, passed away Wednesday morning, February 5, 2014, at his home.
He was a 1954 graduate of Camp Creek High School.
He worked at Keene Corp., Delfasco, and Doehler Jarvis.
Mr. Johnson was also active in the Democratic Party.
He was a member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, where he served as the Men’s Sunday School teacher and song leader. He found great joy in singing with the Susong Memorial Choir at the local nursing homes as long as his health permitted.
Clyde enjoyed living a simple farm life and was glad to help others in any way he was able. Serving the Lord and Savior he loved so dearly, spending time with his granddaughters and family gatherings always brought a smile to his face and were the joys of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents L. H. and Hazel Johnson and a brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Linda Johnson.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Shannon and April Johnson, with whom he made his home, along with his two granddaughters Cortney and Megan Johnson; a brother and sister-in-law Rex and Phyllis Johnson; a sister and brother-in-law Steve and Dixie Miller; a niece Sharon Johnson Ottinger of Parrottsville; nephews Rex Johnson, Jr. and Lynn Miller of Greeneville; Tim Johnson of Hepzibah, Georgia; Eric Johnson of Clemson, South Carolina; and Jason Fulwiler of Conway, Arkansas; their spouses; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; caregivers Sandy Delk, Colleen Harris, and Frank Harris; and special friends Jennifer and Bailey Rader, Tim and Joyce Wright, and Chris Renner.
The family will receive friends from 2:00—4:00 and from 4:00—6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Martha Beamer officiating.
Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
His pallbearers will be his nephews: Bailey Rader, Miles Kilday, Jody Shuffler, and Nick Kuehner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Ragan of Parrottsville, his former co-workers, the men and women of Mt. Pisgah UMC and the Cherokee Circuit, the Greene County Democrat Party, Drs. Kenneth Susong, Claes Svendsen, John Shaw, Phillip Thwing, and the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
