Mr. J.R. Suggs, age 45, of Newport passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at his home. He was a member of White Pine Church of God. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard and Beulah Suggs and William and Nancy Benson; step-father, George Loya and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by father, Arvil Suggs of Newport; mother, Bonnie Loya of Newport; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Charles Denton of Dandridge; sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” Allen (Billy Jones) of Newport and Peggy Stephenson of VA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and JoAnn Benson of Dandridge and Richard and Sharon Wilder of Morristown; nephews, Travis, Trevor, Jay Jay, and Cody; nieces, Brittany, Nicole, Crystal, Misty, Amanda, Kristi, and Monica; additional survivors include several great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends. J.R. was followed in death by his uncle, Ronald Lee Suggs on April 30, 2009. Following cremation provided by Costner-Maloy, a memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.D. Sisk officiating. The family will receive at the family home at 582 Travis Way. Friends may visit at their convenience. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Costner-Maloy Funeral Home to help with the final expenses. Arrangements by Costner-Maloy.
