EVANS, CHARLES SHANNON SR. - age 80, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Cherry Street Church of God, Sanctified, and a graduate of Austin High School, class of 1949. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Martin Marietta, after 35 years of service. Preceded in death by mother and stepfather, Dora Evans (James) Bowles; father, Fred Evans; brother, Tommy Evans; grandparents, Charles and Ella Brabson, Sr. Survived by loving wife, Regina Evans; son, Charles Evans, Jr.; daughters, Dr. Avice (Gary) Reid; Cheryl Glenn, all of Knoxville; Meredith Evans, Dublin, California; nephew whom he raised as a son, Kai Steven (Ann) Armstrong, Virginia Beach, Virginia; granddaughters, Althea (Marcus) Jones and Ranita Glenn, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Jacquetta (John) Baldwin, Lawrenceville, Georgia; LaSarah Riddick, Norfolk, Virginia; great grandson, McCorey Jones; great granddaughter, Asia Riddick; sister, Louella (Bishop Gilford) Hill, Cleveland, Tennessee; nieces and nephews, Dora Gash, Elsie Walters, Bishop G.R. (Dera) Hill, Eric (Norma) Hill, Cecillia (Rev. Rodney) Dunn, Tanya Hill, Tommy Evans, Gary Crombie, numerous cousins; devoted friends, Gary Glenn, John Gillis, Lonnie Williams, Emanuel Martin, Jesse Debro, Harold Linder, Bronx, New York, Christine and Jimmy Stanford, San Diego, California, William and Dorothy Locke, Loraine, Ohio. The family wishes to thank the staff at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center and Holston Health Care for providing loving care. Family will receive friends, 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Cherry Street Church of God, 729 S. Cherry Street; funeral service, 1:00 p.m., Bishop G. R.
