Clark, Pauline Anderson, age 91, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2005 at her home. She was a member of Seymour First Baptist Church. After graduating from Carson-Newman College, Mrs. Clark received her M.A. Degree from the University of Tennessee. She was an outstanding teacher, having taught at Bassel Elementary School in Alcoa for five years, John Sevier Junior High in Kingsport for eleven years, and Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy in Seymour for twenty-eight years. She was closely identified with Chilhowee Academy (now King’s Academy) where her father was principal and president and her mother was a teacher. Mrs. Clark remained a faithful supporter of that institution. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ben Hodges Clark; parents, Roy and Nellie Mason Anderson; sister, Josephine Anderson Notgrass.
Survivors
Mrs. Clark is survived by a sister-in-law, Mildred Clark of Asbury Acres; two nephews and their wives, Dewey and Frances Clark of Seymour and David and Debbi Clark of Maryville; great-nephew and great-nieces, Douglas, Sally, Sara and Elizabeth Clark; several cousins; and a host of loyal friends.
Service
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clark Scholarship Fund Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy, 2002 Smothers Road, Seymour, TN 37865. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Saturday Berry Chapel with Dr. Richard Emert and Dr. Bruce Yates officiating with interment to follow in Chilhowee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Page, Ray Parton, Lyle Hanson, Warren Baker, Dot Baker, Ronnie Reed, V.C. Adcock and Walter Grubb. The family will receive friends 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy.
