WILHITE, JOHN H. - age 92, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 28, 2010. He was of the Baptist faith. Retired from Grand Union Stores as a regional meat buyer for the Southeastern Region. Mr. Wilhite is a Veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII, he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant, and he served in the European Theater of Operation and at Omaha Beach. Preceded in death by his parents Montie Z. and Mattie Wardell Wilhite; brother Tobias Wilhite; sisters, Ester Wilhite, Margaret Rankin and Marie Wilhite Collins. Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years Hazel "Susie" Henry Wilhite; nephews Bryant Collins and wife Donna, of Newnan GA, Daniel H. Collins, Jr. and wife Carolyn, of Luttrell TN, Elvin T. Henry and wife Nelda, of Concord NC, and Roger L. Henry and wife Frances, of Tallahasee FL. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7pm in the Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel.
