PRYSON, COLLEEN BURNETTE - age 93, slipped from her children's loving arms Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Parkwest Medical Center. Raised on the family farm in Sevier County, she joined the U.S. Army/Air Force during WWII, later becoming the fourth woman to be hired in Oak Ridge for the development of the Manhattan Project. She married in 1951 to her husband, Joseph and bore two children, Debra Jo and Chadwick, fulfilling her desires to be a loving mother and homemaker. She was an avid lover of music and sang on the radio for many years. She will be sadly missed, but comfort comes in knowing there is a new star shining in the heavens tonight. She is survived by her children, Debra Jo Dynak and Chadwick Jay Pryson of Knoxville; aunts, Elsie Faye Damon, Morristown, Mrs. Judy Jernigan, Covington, GA; nieces, Lynn Ashby, San Hose, CA, Laurie Barrett, Morristown, Mrs. Gina Caceres, Covington, GA; 1st cousin, Hazel Wilhite, Knoxville. There will be a graveside service, Tuesday, December 29th at Lynnhurst Cemetery with Reverend Jack Cook officiating.
