Harrison, Amanda C. – age 96 went home to be with Jesus on April 25, 2012 at her home in Seymour surrounded by her family. She was a homemaker, devoted mother of 10 children and caregiver to her special son, Freddie, for 78 years. She was a member of Boyds Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Harrison was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, George B. Harrison; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Allie Jenkins; and brother R.D. Jenkins; sisters Mayme Brooks and Beulah Langford, great grandson, Specialist George Daniel Harrison K.I.A in Mosul, Iraq and great granddaughters Jozie and Zoie Norton. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Freddie, Robert & Norma, Daniel & Carolyn, Roger & Thelma and George, Jr. and Oleda; daughters and sons-in-law Margaret & Paul Ellis, Mary Ruth (late Ray) Helton, Elizabeth & Bobby Singleton, Kathy & Ken Wheeler and Faye & Ken Norton; brothers and sisters-in-law Claude and Jacqueline and Charles Jenkins; sister and brother-in-law Mildred and John Roy Hicks; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 28th, from 2-5 p.m. at Highland South Funeral Home, with the funeral service and entombment following at Highland South Memorial Park. Mrs. Harrison's grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and great-grandsons as honorary pallbearers. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Boyds Creek Baptist Church Fellowship House.
