Resided in Gatlinburg, TN
Bill B. Valentine, 76, of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, died on January 8, 2017.
He was born to the late Victor and Nora Valentine on April 11, 1940 in Cosby, Tennessee. He graduated Cosby High School and went on to help manage the family business, Valentine Brother's Nursery, with his brother, Larry Valentine.
Bill had a strong interest in flight which fueled his joining the Air National Guard in his youth and later in life, his service of 30 years on the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Airport Authority Board.
Bill had a deep relationship with the mountains of Tennessee. His favorite spot in the Smokies was a stretch of road called Greenbrier. On any given day, one might see him walking or just pausing on a rock or on the tailgate of his truck to marvel at the beauty of this special place. A dedicated family man, he instilled his love of the mountains and the national park in the hearts of his wife and daughters with many picnicking, hiking and camping experiences.
Bill is survived by his wife, Gail D. Valentine of Gatlinburg; and his daughters, Vicki Scott and her husband, Ken of Sevierville, Tennessee, and Ticia Valentine and her husband, Marshall Pugh of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; his brother, Larry Valentine and his wife, Linda of Sevierville and their daughters, Dawn Costello of Columbia, Tennessee and Kim Bailey of Oakland, Tennessee; brother-in-laws, Lee Denton of Middleville, Michigan and Jon Denton of Knoxville, Tennessee; and many other special family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pigeon Forge Care and Rehabilitation Center and Caris hospice for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of the Smokies https://friendsofthesmokies.org/donate/?t=panel2-4 or Boys and Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains,
