Beck, age 77, of Newport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 31, 2009 at his home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Beck was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from Wall Tube and Metal Products Co. after 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Issiah and Emma Grubbs Beck; and a brother, Aldeen A. Beck, of North Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie Daniels Beck, of Newport; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Roger Smith, of Newport; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Johnny Roop, brother and sister-in-law, James F. and Shelby Beck all of King, North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Maxine McCarty and Mable Jaynes, of Newport, and Connie Johnson of Morristown; several nieces, nephews and a host of special friends and neighbors. The family would also like to say a special thank you to our second family at Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice who took care of Mr. Beck for 23 years and also Dr. James Williams and staff at the Newport Family Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, August 3, 2009 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Scott Gorrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Shults Cemetery.
