Leonard James Capps, age 87, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2009.
“He fought a good fight without any complaints. His life belonged to his country, family, and friends. He will be waiting on the other side.”
Leonard served his country proudly for 22 years. Starting in WWII with the 438- Troop Carrier Group 88th Squadron in England and France with General Patton and onto the 97th Bomb Wing. Upon leaving the Air Force, he continued to serve his country with the National Security Agency for 18 years. His devotion to his country was only surpassed by his devotion to his family. No one could have asked for a more loving husband, companion, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martha and Ad Milligan, mother, Annie Marsh, father, W. Roy Capps, brother, James Marsh, sisters, Lona Dean and Jeannette Capps.

Sons: Kurt Capps, Floyd Belew and wife Laura, and Wayne Belew and Julie
Daughters: Karen Capps, Lesa Newman and husband Michael, and Jean Harris and husband William

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice and the staff of Girling Home Care, especially April, Christy, Carmen, Kathy, and thanks to Dr. Steven Hall who was always there for us.
Funeral service 7:30 PM Thursday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. Brad Hyde officiating. Interment 1:30 PM Friday in Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Volunteer State Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 4:30-7:30 PM Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home, Seymour, 122 Peacock Court, Seymour, Tennessee, 37865 (865)577-2807 (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
