FLYNN, FRANK L., JR. - age 66 of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday March 9, 2005 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. A graduate of the University of Tennessee and University of Tennessee College of Law in 1961, Mr. Flynn was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Order of the Coif. He practiced law in Knoxville for 44 years, first practicing with his father, Frank L. Flynn, Sr. and in 1981 he joined the law firm of Pryor, Flynn, Priest and Harber. Mr. Flynn served on the Board of Editors of Tennessee Law Review and as lecturer on law at the University of Tennessee. He was a member of Knoxville Bar Association (Board Governors 1982-84), Tennessee Bar Association, Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, and a Fellow of the Knoxville Bar Foundation. Mr. Flynn was an Eagle Scott and member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Frank L. Flynn, Sr.; and mother, Ruth Watson Flynn.
He is survived by: his wife, Judy Morrell Flynn; son & daughter-in-law, Tracy & Kaye Flynn; daughter, Cindy Flynn; grandson, Jacob Scott Flynn; granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Flynn; sister & brother-in-law, Frances & Gene Hubbard; sister-in- law and brother-in-law, Vickie & Fayne Phillips; brother-in-law, Scott Morrell; mother-in-law, Evelyn Morrell; several nieces & nephews. He also leaves his devoted secretary for 40 years, Lorene Furrow.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors, nurses, & staff of Parkwest Hospital, Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center, and Shannondale Health Care Center for all of their caring efforts. Thanks for all of the cards, visits, and prayers.
The family will receive friends 5-7:00 p.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church of Bearden followed by the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Larry Fields officiating. Family and friends will meet at Shiloh Cemetery in Sevier County Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. interment service. Pallbearers: Jim Cogdill, John Julies, John Staley, Stan Hurt, Richard Petree, and Hugh LaRue. Honorary pallbearers: the law firm of Pryor, Flynn, Priest, & Harber, Charles Catlett, Joe Lones, Jim Derden, & Dr. Jim Lee. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Great Smoky Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America, P.O. Box 51885, Knoxville, TN 37950 or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, P.O.
