L. Wayne Butler, age 76, of Cosby, passed away after a lengthy illness on October 8, 2010, at his home surrounded by family.
Mr. Butler was born on March 19, 1934 to Orville and Amalee Butler and was the eldest of four children. He was raised and resided in the Bogard Community of Cosby for the majority of his life. He worked many years in the construction business and retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ernestine Williamson Butler , his daughters Barbara Fine of Newport and Vickie (Rusty) Costner of Alabama, his son Terry (Sherry Butler of Newport, grandchildren Nigel Wayne (Misty) Fine of Parrottsville, Jameson & Josh Kuykendall of Newport, Seth Butler of Newport, Alisha Fine of Newport, Melanie (Michael) Kuykendall Clark of Dandridge, great grandchildren Hunter Fine, Ethan Fine, John Michael and James Clark, sister Peggy (Ed) Cates of Newport, brothers Lonnie Butler of Baneberry, Larry (Vickie) Butler of Newport, a host of bothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, special friends Jimmy and Doris Wilson, Nigel Fine, and special caregiver June Shults.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, October 11, 2010 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Cleo Williamson and Rev. Ray Wiley officiating. Burial will follow at Jenkins Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm Monday prior to the service.
