Marlow - WILLIE WHALEY, 89, Marlow, Okla., passed away Friday, April 3, 2009, in Duncan, Okla.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 6, in the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home, with Dale Nease officiating. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. Willie was born Friday, Sept. 5, 1919, in Madison County, Ala., to John William Whaley and Bertha Maud Freeman. Willie lived in the Marlow and Bray area most of his life. He graduated from Bray High School.
Willie married Lola Himes on Aug. 16, 1941, in the Methodist Church in Marlow.
He enjoyed baseball and quail hunting. Willie loved to work. He was a man of the land and loved farming.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Whaley of the home; two sons, Mickey Ray Whaley and wife Vicki, and Dickey Lee Whaley and wife Marie, all of Marlow; seven grandchildren, Tim Whaley, Dave Whaley, Brett Whaley and wife Christal, Mindy Nichols and husband Trevor, David Alves, John Alves, and Frances Sartin; one great-grandchild, Ashlyn Kate Whaley; a brother, Wayne Whaley and wife Lillian of Tolar, Texas; a sister, Judy Jandro of Garland, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Whaley; a sister-in-law, Jane Whaley; a brother-in-law, Walter Brown; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Letha Brown, and a brother Glen Whaley.
