Clark, Ben Hodges, age 90, of Seymour, passed away at Baptist Hospital, Sunday, June 9, 2002. He was a member of Seymour First Baptist Church. During World War II, he served with the 36th Military Police Company in the Pacific Campaign. Ben was a graduate and former trustee of Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy. Both his father and grandfather were early trustees of the school. His mother and sister were teachers there. Ben attended Carson-Newman College, where he was an outstanding football player.
Survivors
Wife of 62 years, Pauline Anderson Clark; sister, Mildred Clark; nephews and wives, Dewey and Frances Clark, David and Deborah Clark; great-nieces, Sally, Sarah, and Elizabeth Clark; and great-nephew, Doug Clark.
Service
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 11, 2002, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM with Rev. Richard Emert and Dr. Bruce Yates officiating . Graveside service Wednesday, June 12, 2002, 10:00 AM at Chilhowee Cemetery, Seymour, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clark Scholarship Fund, Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy, 202 Smothers Road, Seymour, TN 37865.
