Geraldine “Geri” Cannon Gibson, age 86 of Seymour, TN passed away Friday October 27, 2017. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Geraldine was employed for 16 years as a CNA at UT Hospital and faithfully served as a member of Oak City Baptist Church for 68 years. She was a WMU and VBS director, Sunday School teacher, an Eastern Star Member, and an avid Missions supporter. Geraldine was also an enthusiastic Lady Vols fan, reader, and traveler. Her hobbies included coaching softball, bowling, and playing rook. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kelly and Rose Cannon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Cannon, Kelly and Shirley Cannon, Paul and Joy Cannon, and Caroline Cannon; nephew, Robert Cannon; and very special friend, Betty Myers.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Gibson; children, Elaine Gibson, Bobbie Sue Marcum and husband Roger, Paul Gibson and wife Alicia, Lisa Gibson Hale and husband Roger; grandchildren, Kelly Marcum and wife Susan, Jennifer Hagan and husband Hart, Hannah Hale-Salvo and husband Chris, Zack Hale, J.P Gibson, and Abigail Gibson; great-grandchildren, Gibson Hagan, Cannon Hagan, Shelby Marcum, and Harper Marcum; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob Cannon and wife Betty, Roy Cannon, Poe Cannon and wife Charlotte, and Faye Cannon; many nieces and nephews, and her Oak City girls.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Oak City Baptist Church Lottie Moon Offering, 211 Main St, Seymour, TN 37865.
The family will receive friends 11 AM – 1 PM Monday with a funeral service to follow at 1 PM in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Chris Kendall and Bryan Creswell officiating.
