Mattie Bell Ownby Trentham, age 92 of Gatlinburg passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013.
Mrs. Trentham was a member of Roaring Fork Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 40 years and served as church secretary.
She owned and operated Virgil's Motel 1955-1998. She was a member of the Great Smokies National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Trentham enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in sports and other activities and also enjoyed her church activities and helping others in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Lavana Trentham, son Virgil Edward Trentham; daughter, Charlotte Ann Trentham; parents, William Harrison and Delilah Reagan Ownby; brothers, Harvey Lee, Roy Hubert, Alfred and Luke; sisters, Annalee Ownby Huskey, Flora Ownby King, Alice Ownby Shultz and Myrtie Leona Ownby.

Son and daughter-in-law: Tommy Lavana and Marlene (Oliver) Trentham
Daughters and sons-in-law: JoAn (Trentham) Garland and husband John L. Garland, Claudette (Trentham) Kendig and husband James R. "Bob" Kendig

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Thursday with funeral service to follow at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Kim McCroskey and Dr. Bob Kendig officiating. Interment 10AM Friday in Roaring Fork Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Joe Trentham, Scott Huskey, Dalton Bohanan, Phillip Wood, Eric Bohanan, Eric Wolfe and Davis Jennette.
