She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul G. Necessary; grandparents, John and Etta Mae Myers and Edith and Sterling Necessary; and uncles, Sonny and Ricky Necessary. Karen is survived by her loving husband, J.R. Rathbone of Newport; son, Andrew Sterling Rathbone of Newport; daughter, Courtney Danielle Rathbone of Newport; stepson, Dakota Evans of Newport; mother, Dorothy Necessary of Newport; nieces, Michelle Jones and Nema Morrow, both of Newport; nephews, Blake and Josh Evans of Newport; and special friend, Jonathan Burgess of Newport. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 3, 2004 at 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Ball and Rev. Freddy Necessary officiating. Graveside service will be Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening, December 3, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home prior to the service.
