TURNER, JEWELL TARWATER - age 80, of Knoxville, passed away October 27, 1998, at Brakebill Nursing Home. Member of the First Baptist Church in Maryville. Born November 30, 1917, in Sevier County to the late Clifford and Rena Tarwater Baker. Preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Turner. Survivors: son, Edward Turner of Maryville; daughters, Rena and husband, Jim Ramsey of Karnes and Vena and husband, Austin Moore of Knoxville; grandchildren, Heather A. Davis, Hope A. Turner, Gregory L. Ramsey, Beth A. Bloom, Jimmy A. Ramsey, Christopher P. Ramsey, Jeannie L. Ferrin; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Hugh Baker of Santee, S.C. and Clarence Baker of Maryville; sisters, Ellen Baker of Knoxville; a good friend Barbara Whittington; several nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday at 8 p.m. at McCarty-Weaver Chapel with Rev. Tony Maples officiating. Graveside service will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Edgewood Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Friday for the service. Pallbearers will be Jimmy, Greg, and Chris Ramsey, Donny Bloom, Roger and Rodney Baker and Rick Ferrin. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. McCarty-Weaver Cumberland Chapel in charge of arrangements.
