He was preceded in death by his parents, Gay and Georgia Hicks; and brother, Bill Hicks. He is survived by his wife, Judy Hicks of Newport; sons, Robbie Hicks and wife Jamie, Brad Hicks and fiancée Joni Sane; brother, Ben Hicks; sister-in-law, Argell Hicks; niece, Susan Ball and her husband Riley; nephew, Joey Hicks; grandchildren, Gracie Hicks, Olivia Hicks and McKala Fox; special friends, Teaberry Lane, Anita Fraley, James Ramsey, Ronald Raines. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm, Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Cleo Williamson officiating. Pumpkin man Hicks dies Monday Source: The Newport Plain Talk 06-05-2007 A Wilton Springs farmer and businessman who had suffered from a rare muscular disorder died on Monday. Bob Hicks was diagnosed with a form of Muscular Dystrophy, when he was in his mid-20s. He would have been 60 on June 16. During the past several years he was bedridden, but before that was still able to ride a tractor with assistance. The Hicks family was well-known for the abundant and unusual pumpkin crop grown and sold at the Hicks home off Wilton Springs Rd. The pumpkin sales first started at Bob Hicks' mother's home, Georgia Hicks. Bob's later father, Gay Hicks, was an elected county official and died in a freak tractor accident.
