Allen, Edith Elizabeth Ogle, “Babe”, age 94, died at Sevier Co. Healthcare Center, Sevierville, Tn. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. She had been in their loving care since March 9, 2007. She was born August 20, 1915 to Alexander Beecher Ogle and Lela Covington Ogle, Sevier County, Tn. She was an orphan at a very early age, by her dad at age 3, by her mother at age 9. Special grandparents, John and Nancy Jane Hodge Covington of Sevier Co. and Tillman and Effy Ogle of Wildwood, Maryville, Tn cared for her during her early life. Special thanks and remembrance of grandparents, especially Nancy Jane Covington (Mommie) who was born in 1869 and died in 1951, and a precious granddaughter, Mary Alice Allen who died in 1989 at the age of 23. Edith was married September 19, 1931 to the love of her life for 43 years and forever after, Herman Benjamin Allen, who died in 1974. The Allens moved from Sevier Co. to South Knoxville in 1940. Edith was employed by Standard Knitting Mills, Knitting Dept in Knoxville, Tn until her retirement after 40 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and her family, her church and her many friends. She enjoyed Senior Citizens activities, cooking, traveling and farming. For many years, as long as she was able, she enjoyed visiting and helping the sick. She cared for herself until February 2007. She was also preceded in death by a special uncle and aunt, Rev. E.H. Ogle and wife Ann; a special first cousin, Olin Ogle.
