(June 10, 1926 - July 6, 2015)
Opal Ball Coggins, age 89, born seventh of twelve children to the late Tilman Russell Ball and Fannie Pack Ball of the Old Fifteenth Community in Del Rio, TN, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 6, 2015.
She was of the Baptist faith; growing up as a member of Cogdill’s Chapel, singing in church with her siblings, and later attending West End.
She loved spending time with her family and always had a wonderful smile to share. She was known by those who loved her to have a spunky personality, whose laughter was infectious.
She is preceded in death by her parents, T.R. and Fannie Ball, siblings: Ollie Mae Ball, Harl Ball, Myrtle Arrowood, Lorrie Williams, Forrest Ball, Horace Ball, and Ardith Tucker.
She is survived by husband of 52 years, Major Coggins of Dandridge, special niece and husband, Kathy and Mauro Saiti of Pigeon Forge, brother, Joye (Diane) Ball of Newport, sisters, Chris McGaha and Georgia Mantooth of Pigeon Forge, sister and brother-in-law, Bettye and Paul Hux of Newport, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to recognize and thank the wonderful staff of Pigeon Forge Care and Rehabilitation Center for the tender care shown to Opal and the family.
Visitation will be 5pm-6pm Thursday, July 9, 2015 in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 6pm with Rev. Ransom Hall and Rev. Mike Hensley officiating. Entombment will be at 11:00am Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Dandridge.
