BALL, HARL CLINTON (H.C.) - age 85 of White Pine, passed away at his home, Aug. 8, 2000 after a long illness. He was American Enka's first certified Welder retiring in 1980. He began his welding career with Du Pont Corporation and Sunset Shipyards of New Jersey during World War II and continued his career in Oak Ridge, Tenn. at the Atomic Plant. After his professional career, he continued to weld for friends and neighbors at his home where he farmed until his death. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of White Pine. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years. Lola Mae Arwwod Ball and his on, R.L. Ball. Also preceded in death by his parents, Tillman R. and Fannie Pack Ball and also sisters, Lorrie Williams and Ollie M. Ball. Survived by sons and daughters in law, Richard and Martha Ann Ball, Harrel Harl and Shirley M. Ball all of White Pine; daughters and sons in law, Allie and Dr. Dale Hunter of Tullahoma and Linda and William Harry Watson of Maryville; grandchildren, Teresa Ball Smith and Rick Ball both of White Pine, Ryan Watson of Maryville; sisters Opal Coggins of Dandridge, Ardith Tucker , Bettye Hux, and Myrtle Arrowood all of Newport, Christine McGaha and Georgia Mantooth both of Pigeon Forge; brothers, Jaye and Forrest Ball both Newport and Horace Ball of Del Rio; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist with Rev. Randy Irons officiating. The family will receive friends at the church 6-9 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday at Dandridge Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to proceed to the cemetery for the interment service. Farrars of White Pine in charge of arrangements.
