Kenneth Forrester passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013.
Kenneth retired from the United States Navy and the Escambia Regional Detention Center. He received numerous awards and medals for his service in the Navy and participated in many rescue missions. He was on the USS Glacier on the first scientific expedition to Antarctica. He received a medal from Uruguay for his help in blowing up a dam and saving many lives.
He enjoyed camping and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Glennie Forrester; sisters, Juanita Jenkins and Cookie Forrester and son-in-law, David Orlando.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Reba Gunter Forrester; children Gail Orlando, Dell (Bo) Johnson, and Neil (Patti) Forrester; grandchildren Jason Parrish, Stephanie Turman (Stacy), Jessica Melvin, Jeremy Johnson (Jessica), and Stacy Olivares; great-grandchildren Cody Johnson, Dylan Turman, Taylor Turman, Savanna Melvin, Isabella Olivares, Kayla Johnson and Braden Forrester; sisters Valda Gregg, Jolene Parker, and Dolly Hicks; brothers Cecil Forrester and Billy J. Forrester; brother in-law, Paul Gunter; sister in-law Martha Click and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 5, 2013, from 5:00--7:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 6, 2013, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Reverend Mitch Herring officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cody Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Stacy Turman, Billy J. Forrester and Clark Cooper. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Parrish, Braden Forrester, and Dylan Turman
