Homer Ray Williams, age 71 of Sevierville, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at 3:30 a.m. at U.T. Medical Center. He fought a very courageous battle for the past 5 years with his lung cancer that was caused by his exposure to agent orange while fighting for his country. Homer was an U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran who served from 1964-1966 as a helicopter crew chief. After leaving the military, he worked as a stone mason for most of his life.
Homer was preceded in death by his father, Cleo Williams; mother, Alma Williams; brothers, James Sanders Williams, Harold Gene Williams, Orville E. Williams; infant sister, Minnie Lou Williams
He is survived by:
Lena M. Reagan
Son: Gene Norris
Grandchildren: Peter Norris, Whitney Norris
Great-grandchild: Brycen Norris
Sisters: Mary Paralee Williams of Cosby, TN, Irene Mullins of Cosby, TN, Bell Williams (Virgil), Betty Cannon (Bob)
Brother: David Kenneth Williams
Several nieces and nephews
Extended family: Sonya Dawn and Justin Carpenter, Gator Way, Jacob Lee, Brianna Campbell, Matthew and Brookie Carpenter, Tonya Reagan Deckard, Paul Gordan, Angelia and Billy Ray Campbell, Wayne and Claudette Reagan
The family would like to extend a special thanks to someone very dear to Homer, Sonya Dawn Carpenter for all she did for Homer.
Also a special thanks to Dr. Melissa Blair, Dr. Bertoli, Dr. Russell Devore, Dr. H.F. Nadrous, U.T. Medical Center for the care they provided.
Funeral service 1 PM Thursday in the chapel of Atchley Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Eledge (Bethany) Cemetery with American Legion Post 104 to provide military honors. The family will receive friends 5-8PM Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
