James Lowe, of New Market, TN died November 18, 2012. James was a decorated WW II hero with 4 bronze stars. He was under the command of General Patton in France and Germany. He helped to liberate the prisoners in Dachau Concentration Camp.
James was a humble, caring husband, father, and grand-father and friend. His family and friends will long remember his sense of humor and devotion to God, Country, and community. He was married to Kathleen Whitaker for 59 years. They had three children; Anthony Lowe of Morristown, Edwin Lowe of New Market, and Shirlene and son-in-law Richard Morgan of Knoxville. James’ grandchildren include Allison and Dr. Jerry Jones of Jackson, TN; Dr. Michael and Jaime Morgan of Winston-Salem, NC; Jay and Melissa and Morgan of Knoxville; Amanda and Junior Sizemore of Bean station, and Alea Lowe of Morristown, TN .There are eight delightful great-grandchildren.
When James returned from the war, he earned a living as a machinist at Standard Knitting Mill. He retired to enjoy raising Black Angus cattle and a huge garden.
James was an active member of Paw-Paw Hollow Baptist Church. He and his good and devoted friend Fay McCarty enjoyed many hours of service and worship. One of James’ favorite activites was to visit and bring cheer to people in the local nursing homes.
The family will receive friends at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, TN on Tuesday, November 20, from 5-7 pm with a service to follow at 7:00. Graveside will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made Paw Paw Hollow Baptist Church or to any charity to promote the welfare of children.
