Resided in Maynardville, TN
Willis Baxter White, age 69, went peacefully into the arms of our heavenly Father Wednesday June 29, 2016 surrounded by family. He was born and raised in Sevier Co. and was a member of Gist's Creek Baptist Church. He graduated from Sevier Co. High School in 1965. Willis spent a 40 year career as a truck driver for Coca-Cola and Miller Lite. He made life-long friends in Sevier Co. and later in Maynardville on Norris Lake where he retired. There on Norris Lake he became known as, "Guardian of the Lake People." My father was known for being able to fix and make anything. He was a self-taught man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating on the lake around Hickory Star. His passion later in life were his wildflowers and making canes that he would find in the woods. He took advantage of his talent as an articulate craftsman and gave away many canes. If you were special enough to get one, always cherish it and remember my Dad. He was beloved by many and will be remembered for his independent spirit, his soft heart for helping people, and his quick witted jokes he loved telling. Dad, I'll always love you and I did listen and I did learn. He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. "Mutt" and Georgia Ailene White; brother, Bill White; sister-in-law, Regina White; brother-in-law, Jerry Whaley; and faithful and loyal dogs, Brittany and Lucky.
