THOMAS WILLIAM “BILL” BALLARD, age 87 of New Market, TN passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015. He was born May 9, 1928 in Sevier County and grew up on Cate Road. He was of the Baptist faith and was baptized at an early age at Piney Grove Church. Bill enlisted in the U. S. Army, where he served with the 7628 HQS TAC Command in Austria. While stationed there, he also played basketball, winning the S.M.P. 1951 Championship. He returned home and married the love of his life, Bobbie Lou Stallings Ballard. They were married for 63 years. He worked at Palm Beach for 47 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Zelma Louise Swaggerty. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bobbie Lou; son, William Phillip (Cindy); and daughter, Vickie Denise (Jim). He was very proud of his four grandchildren, Joseph (Amanda), Janna (Josh), Ashlie (Scott), Josh (Rachel); also nine sweet great-grandchildren, Blake, Anna, Brianna, Landon, Brilee, Braxton, Maggie, Brittyn, Mckenna, and Isaac will arrive in January, also nieces and nephews. To recognize special friends and family members, Dennis Osland, Betty Denton, Gary and Diane Stallings, Hazel Swaggerty and Marjorie Stallings. His family remembers how he liked to be busy with projects, be it mowing or making their homemade decorative pies. He loved watching UT football and Dancing with the Stars. The family would like to thank the staff of the UT Critical care Unit, 2nd floor. He was telling everyone that he had received 5 star treatment at the hospital. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Farrar Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends will gather at Eastview Cemetery on Andrew Johnson Highway at 10:45 a.m. on Friday morning for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service.
