Lonnie Douglas Lindsey
Died: 02-23-2005 ROGERSVILLE-Lonnie Douglas Lindsey, of the Phillipines and formerly of Torrance, Calif., and Bristol, Tenn., died Sunday, February 20, 2005, at the age of 54.
Born on September 29, 1950, to Lois and Wilbur Lindsey, of Newport. Lonnie honorably served his country in the U.S. Army for seven years. He was distinguished in the field of telecommunications, fiber optics, with research and development in nanotechnology.
He attended King College and was graduated from E.T.S.U. with a Bachelor in Business Adminstration degree in 1985.
He was a published poet, writer, and performed locally in theatres in the Bristol and Kingsport, Tenn., areas.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Lindsey.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ayop Lindsey, of the Phillipines; his mother, Lois Lindsey, of North Augusta, S.C.; the mother of his children, Susan Lindsey, of Bristol, Tenn.; four children, Shawn Lindsey, of Riceville, Tenn.; Adam Lindsey, of Johnson City, Tenn.; Leila Hubbard, of Church Hill, Tenn.; and Sarah Lindsey, of Irvine, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Kammee Lindsey; son-in-law, Danny Hubbard; six beloved grandchildren, Thomas, Owen, and Ethan Lindsey, Savannah, Jacob, and Ava Hubbard; sisters, Judy Moore, of Edgeville, S.C., and Pamela Hartsell, of Newport, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2005, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 13 Heritage Drive, Bristol, Va.
The family will receive friends and family at the residence of Susan Lindsey, 2405 Windsor Avenue, Bristol, Tenn., following the memorial service.
