Hugh Benton “Bear” Reagan, of Gatlinburg passed away Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville.
“Bear” served his country in the army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Glades Lebanon Baptist Church and had a great love and dedication to his God, family, and community. A great portion of his life was dedicated to his love of golf and to his friends and members of the Gatlinburg Country Club.
His parents, James Thomas and Barbara Parton Reagan, brother, Stuart Reagan, sister, LaDelle Compton and his half-brothers, Harold, Ralph, and Earl Reagan preceded Benton in death.
Benton is survived by his wife, Hope Nolan Reagan of Gatlinburg; children, Tony Reagan of Gatlinburg, John Reagan of Sevier County, Leslie Tipton and husband Tim of Johnson City, Jeff Reagan of Norfolk, VA; step-children, Paul Ogle of Pigeon Forge, Angela McCarter and husband Wayne of Pigeon Forge, John Ogle and wife Amy of Gatlinburg; grandchildren, David Rusty Lowe, Michael Ryan Simmons; step-grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Jaime and Julie McCarter, Andy, Katie and Adam Ogle; brothers, James Howard Reagan and wife Patsy of Piedmont, TN, Jerry Reagan and wife Betty Jo of Sevier County, sister, Lorraine Fowler of Tallahassee, FL. Besides the immediate family, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends will miss “Bear”.
Service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at Glades Lebanon Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Watson and Rev. Pete Lamon officiating. Interment will follow the service at White Oaks Flats Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 9 in the Davis Room at Rawlings Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Glades Lebanon Baptist Church Building Fund, 820 East Highland Drive, Gatlinburg, TN 37738. Phone # 865.430.3970.
