TROTTER, LUTHER RAY - age 90 of West Knoxville, died Friday, December 26, 2003 at Ft Sanders Park West Medical Center. He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church since 1954 where he had served the Church in different capacities over the years as a member of the Board of Trustees and as Chairman of the Finance Committee. He was born in Tampa, Florida on July 10, 1913, but lived in Sevierville during his childhood and youth. He graduated from East Tennessee State Teachers' College, taught high school at Beech Springs High School in Arkansas, served with the Coast Guard in World War II as a chemical warfare specialist, performed graduate work at the University of Tennessee and completed a series of studies with the Metals Engineering Institute. He retired from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he worked as a metallurgist for nearly 30 years. He was a member of Chota Masonic Lodge No. 352 in Farragut for 50 years and was a member of the Masonic organization in excess of 60 years. He was preceded in death in June by his wife, Anna Leake Trotter. Survivors: son, Truman Ray Trotter and daughter in law, LeAnn Luttrell Trotter brother, Troy C. Trotter of Oak Ridge sister, Daisy Sims of Manor House, Knoxville sister in law, Mary Trotter of Arbor Terrace, Knoxville grandchildren, Robert and wife, Jeannie Trotter of North Carolina, Alisa Trotter of Ohio, Christina and husband, Calvin Davis of Knoxville great grandchildren, Kathryn "Katie" Trotter and Caroline Trotter of North Carolina, Joseph Welborn of Ohio, Kathleen Griffin of North Carolina and Brianna Davis of Knoxville numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Concord United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Kilday and Rev. Catherine Nance officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service and interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Concord United Methodist Church, 11020 Roane Drive, Knoxville, TN 37922. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
