Fredrick Powell “Fred” Bailey, age 41, of Madisonville, TN, passed away, March 22, 2014.
Fred taught at Tellico Plains High School for 13 years, mentoring young lives. Although he had no children of his own, he considered all his students his children. On any given weekend you would find Fred cheering for the TN Vols or worshipping with the Kingdom Heirs, his favorite southern gospel quartet. He was preceded in death by, his father, Bobby Gene Bailey, his paternal grandparents, Fred and Lucy Bailey and his maternal grandfather, Robert P. Helton.
Survivors: Mother: Phyllis Bailey, Madisonville; Maternal grandmother: Veryle Helton, Sevierville, TN; Sister: Michelle Poole, Dandridge, TN; Several other family members and loved ones.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2014 at Myers Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., in Myers Funeral Chapel with Layspeaker Ben Johnson officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 12:00 noon, at Shiloh Cemetery in Pigeon Forge on Saturday, March 29th for the committal service with Rev. Melvin Lonas officiating. Norman Long, Charles Banner, Ryan Patton, Jim Hatcher, Chad Morris, Sam Sullins, and Jake Sullins will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Beech Springs Church Cemetery Fund 337 Mount Rd. West, Kodak, TN 37764 or to Waldens Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund 2882 Mary Ridge Farm Rd., Sevierville, TN 37862. Myers Funeral Home of Tellico Plains in charge of arrangements.
