Harry Garvin Grisham, age 90 of Sevierville, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012. Mr. Grisham was born January 2, 1922 in the Maggart Community to the late Ernest Weldon and Daisy Belle (Massey) Grisham.
Mr. Grisham was a graduate of Tennessee Tech and worked in Oak Ridge for Union Carbide and the Department of Energy for over 40 years. He enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and football. He was active in the United Methodist church and taught Sunday school for over 40 years. Mr. Grisham enjoyed his cattle farm in Maryville, sports and animals.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Keisha Dare Williams and brother, William Bradley Grisham.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Katie Grisham; son, Harry Steven Grisham and wife Julia; grandchildren, Virginia Kate Melton and husband Randy, Stephannie Irene Coyle and husband J.J., Margaret Belle Garvin Cunniff and husband P.J.; great-grandchildren, Hunter Blake Williams, Kaitlyn Dare Williams, Victoria Lee and Presley Wayne Melton, Jeremiah J. (Tripp) Coyle; sister-in-law, Estelle Sutton Grisham and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to either the Sevier County Food Ministries, P.O. Box 6042, Sevierville, TN 37864, Kodak United Methodist Church, 2923 Bryan Road, Kodak, TN, 37764 or Sevier County Humane Society, P.O. Box 976, Pigeon Forge, TN, 37868.
The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Friday with funeral service to follow at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Rowland Buck officiating. Family and friends will meet 1 PM Saturday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens, Pigeon Forge for entombment.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Herbert Duncan, John B. Duncan, Artie Schettini, Michael Grisham, Marianna Keener, Ronnie Keener, Frances Hendricks, Dewanna Williams, Susan Vaughan, Eric Vaughan and Johnny Guinn. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
