Katie Vaughan Grisham, age 88 of Sevierville, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014. She was born December 30, 1925 in Knoxville to her parents, Samuel H. and Pearl Fox Vaughan who have preceded her in death. Katie moved to Sevierville when she was 14 years old and attended Sevier County High School. She was a cheerleader and played basketball for four years. Katie graduated in 1943 and won every Senior Superlative except one. She was affectionately known as Fannie Kate during her high school years. Katie attended Tennessee Wesleyan College and continued playing basketball. She moved to Oak Ridge, TN where Katie met the love of her life, Harry Garvin Grisham, who has preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Keisha Blake Williams; brothers, Harry Vaughan Jr., William "Billy" Vaughan; and sister, Margaret "Chesia" McCroskey.
Katie is survived by her son, Harry Steven Grisham and wife, Julia; grandchildren, Virginia Kate Melton and husband, Randy, Stephannie Irene Coyle and husband, J.J., Margaret Belle Garvin Cunniff and husband, P.J.; great-grandchildren, Hunter Blake Williams, Kaitlyn Dare Williams, Victoria Lee Melton, Presley Wayne Melton, Jeremiah John "Tripp" Coyle III and Kinsley Belle Cunniff; numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly and will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciation to Katie's very dear friends, John Guinn and Katie McMahan; and her caregivers, Shelia McCarter, Jean Overstreet, Pearl and Junior Howie. A grand lady has passed and the world has a little less class about it.

A private graveside service for family and friends will be held 2 pm Friday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens, 220 Emert Street, Pigeon Forge, TN.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 pm Saturday, October 18th in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Saturday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. www.atchleyfuneralhome.com
