Ruby Jean Suttles, 82, a longtime resident of East Wenatchee, Wash., died Wednesday December 26, 2012 at her home in East Wenatchee. Ruby Jean was born on December 15, 1930 to Garland and Sarah (Barnes) Styles at Sevierville, Tennessee where she was raised and educated.
On April 26, 1949 she married Ernest L. Suttles at Dalton, Georgia. For their honeymoon they traveled to Leavenworth where they decided to stay. While there, Ruby Jean worked in the warehouse in Cashmere as a fruit sorter. Ruby Jean became a homemaker with the birth of their first child and later a second. They moved to Entiat in 1953 and later Manson, Wenatchee and then to East Wenatchee where they made their home and raised their daughters. Ruby Jean was an active member of the Eastmont Baptist church for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ernest Suttles of the family home; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Lowell Rainey of East Wenatchee and Debbie and Mike O’Dell of Wenatchee; brothers, Walter Styles of Sevierville, Tennessee, Charles Styles of Malaga and Robert Styles of Monroe; three granddaughters, April (Nathan) Hedman of Evanston, Illinois, Melissa O’Dell and Alicia O’Dell both of Wenatchee; five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
A funeral service of commemoration to celebrate the life of Ruby Jean Suttles will be held on Wednesday January 2, 2013 at the Eastmont Baptist Church in East Wenatchee at 1 p.m. with a private family interment in the Peshastin Cemetery at a later date. Ward’s Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
