Jonathan Eugene Burgin, age 30 of Newport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 23, 2014. He was preceded in death by his niece, Jaycee Burgin; aunt, Melissa Burgin and Kathy Ault; grandfathers, Bob Burgin and Ralph Eugene Thomas; father-in-law, George Brackins. He is survived by his wife, Joanie Burgin; son, Bryson McCarter; parents, Bobby Burgin of Newport and Karen Thomas of Erwin; brother, Joseph Burgin of Bybee; special niece Jayleanna Burgin and sister-in-law Leah Burgin of Newport; grandparents, Betty and Junior Gorrell of Newport and Genevia Thomas of Erwin; mother-in-law, Wanda Brackins; sisters-in-law, Shannon (Jody) Ellison and Tina (Jeff) Gibson; great aunts, Ruthann Blevins of Newport, Shirly Woody of Texas, and Roy and Essie Burgin of Newport; also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 7:00 pm in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ricky Phillips and Pastor Josh Spurgeon officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will be on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11 am in the Stokely Cemetery.
