ROY GENE HOLBERT, age 76 of Dandridge passed away Wedneday afternoon, April 23, 2014 at his home. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and the Brazelton Lodge # 190 F. & AM. Roy was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Airborne Division. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Jones Holbert; daughters, Susan Hubbs of Knoxville, Kelly Loughner of Dandridge and Cathy Ballard and husband Rodney of Iron Station, NC; grandchildren, Somer Fortbenberry and husband Craig of Iron Station, NC; Casey Bridges and husband Samuel of Iron Station, NC , Mallory Barrett ,husband Brian of Vale, NC and Jacob Ballard of Iron Station, NC; great-grandchildren, Noah and Joshua Carter and Cooper Bridges; sister, JoAnn Etherton and husband J.B. of Dandridge; nephews, Paul Lee Holbert and Tim Etherton. The family expresses thanks to the many wonderful and caring neighbors and church family who have been a part of caring for us all during his illness and whose presence blessed us all. In lieu of flowers please make memorial gifts to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Masonic and Funeral Services will be held Friday April 25, 2014, 7:00 pm at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Brazelton Lodge # 190 and Rev. John Thompson officiating. Interment graveside services with military honors will be held, Saturday, 10:30 am at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends Friday, 5:00 to 7:00 pm prior to services at the church.
