HORNER, GORDON REED - age 76, of South Knoxville, died Monday, November 29th, 2010, from complications including heart failure. He was a graduate of Young High School and earned Bachelors and Masters of Science in Education degrees from the University of Tennessee. At UT he received a varsity letter as track team manager, and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. His membership at Valley Grove Baptist Church and his Sunday school class were very important to him. He was preceded in death by parents Ruth and W. C. (Chick) Horner. His surviving relatives include: sister, Cynthia Horner Turner and brother, Joe Horner and wife Kay. Memorial and interment at Woodlawn Cemetery services will be private with Reverend Jeff Spangler and Dr. Chad Rittenhouse officiating.
