(March 16, 1937 - December 7, 2015) U.S. Veteran Wayne Kenneth Smelcer, age 78, of Chestnut Hill, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2015 surrounded by his family at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Wayne was a loyal member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church. He retired from American Enka after working 37 years, and was a veteran having served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Leona Smelcer; brother Dean Smelcer; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Lucille and Harold Campbell, Emma and Stanley Owens, Maudella and Cy Owens, Elizabeth and Harold Hurst, Mary Williams, LeRoy Williams and Addie Smecler. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Doris (Williams) Smelcer; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Gail Smelcer; daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Eddie Ivey; grandchildren Wesley and Savannah Smelcer, Haley and Masie Ivey; and great-granddaughter CrystaLynne Smelcer. Wayne is also survived by his sister-in-law Pat Smelcer; brother Bill Smelcer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Wayne and Helen Williams, GD Williams, Elizabeth Williams and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday December 10, 2015 with funeral services following at 7:00 pm in Manes Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, December 11, 2015 in Burchfield Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church or Burchfield United Methodist Church.
