(February 4, 1935 - October 13, 2010) Dean Harold Smelcer, age 75, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Newport Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was retired from BASF as an electrician after forty four years. He was an excellent and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed severely by the ones he knew and loved. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Darrell Lynn Smelcer; father and mother, James and Leona Smelcer. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia P. Smelcer, daughter and son-in-law, Debra K. and Tim Nash of White Pine, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Harold D. and Dawn Smelcer of North Carolina; granddaughter, Tiffany N. (Jonathan) Lewis of White Pine, TN; grandson, Adam B. (Nicole ) Smelcer of North Carolina; two great-grandsons, Bentley R. Lewis and Louis O. Smelcer; brothers, Wayne (Doris) Smelcer of Dandridge, Bill (Addie) Smelcer of White Pine; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 7:00 pm Friday, October 15, 2010 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. J.D. Sisk, and Rev. Glen Brady officiating. Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday, October 16, 2010 in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral.
